1
Initial
Consultation
Your therapist will listen to your concerns and recommend the services that best fit your or your child’s needs. If appropriate, an intake/parent interview will be scheduled before the call ends. Afterward, your therapist will send forms to gather background information about you or your child’s development and current symptoms, along with details about office policies.
2
Intake/Parent
Interview
During this 60-minute, in person session, your therapist or your child’s therapist will go through background information, discuss your concerns, and set specific treatment goals for you or your child’s individualized therapy plan.
3
Initial Therapy Session for Child
During the first session, you and your child will come back to the office together to discuss the structure of sessions, confidentiality and its limits, and other office policies. Then, you will return to the waiting room and your child will have a chance to discuss their concerns with your therapist and add to their treatment plan.
4
Ongoing
Sessions
Your therapist will keep track of progress toward treatment goals throughout therapy. For child or teen clients, your therapist may suggest parent-only sessions to discuss strategies for home—but you’re also welcome to request these sessions at any time. As you or your child reach treatment goals, you’ll work together with your therapist to set new goals or plan for graduation.
